by William Thomas

This is a six lecture set

This six-session course presumes a solid familiarity with the structure of Objectivism and with its key writings. William Thomas will survey the arguments for the core components of the social ethics of Objectivism, including the elements of the trader principle: existential independence, non-deception, non-self-sacrifice, and non-coercion. With an emphasis on inductive argument and attention to troublesome cases like the “prudent predator,” opportunistic deceit, and exploiting the welfare state, Thomas will delve into the logic of the Objectivist concept of a harmony of interests among rational individuals. (6 Audiotapes)

William Thomas, Director of Programs at the Center, has a Master’s degree in economics from the University of Michigan, where he taught. He has been collaborating with David Kelley on a new survey, The Logical Structure of Objectivism, and his course, The Essence of Objectivist, is available from The Objectivism Store.
